Functionalized Carbon-Nanotubes-Based Thin-Film Transistor Sensor for Highly Selective Detection of Methane at Room Temperature

Gas sensors based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as channel materials have been widely considered promising candidates for the detection of toxic gas. However, effectively detecting methane (CH4) with CNTs-based remains challenging because nonpolar CH4 molecules find it difficult to directly interact CNTs. Herein, a functionalized thin-film transistor (TFT) sensor is proposed highly effective at room temperature, where CNTs high semiconductor purity are used main TFT channel. The VO2 and Pd nanoparticles serve surface-active agents modify CNTs, surface-modified gas exhibits excellent gas-sensing properties CH4. In particular, Pd@VO2 composite-modified has sensitivity in range 50 500 ppm. limit low ppm, selectivity superior repeatability. improved primarily attributed modification sensitive that can promote electronic interaction between materials. This study provides guidance development high-performance operating temperature.
